Frequently Asked Questions: |
What is the Day31 Haunt? The Day31 Haunted House is a haunted attraction located at the private residence of the Comstock family in Temecula, California. We open our event to the public on Halloween night and invite you as guests of ours to experience our haunted attraction. By choosing to visit our home, we ask that you follow all Haunt rules and respect the time and money we put into creating Day31. |
Is there an admission fee? As long as the location of Day31 remains at a private residence, we will not require a monetary admission fee. We will require a token donation of 3 pieces of Halloween candy or 1 full sized candy bar in order to enter on Halloween night. Any cash donations will be accepted but are not required. 100% of any money raised will be used for upgrades to the haunted house and props for next year. |
This looks like fun. Can I volunteer to help? Yes, if you are interested in helping out, email me and let me know. Burial plots are still available for the Day31 Crew. Since 2005, the Day31 Haunt has been constructed and operated by a close circle of relatives and friends, but as the Haunt grows, so do its needs. No fancy prop will ever be an adequate substitute for a live actor. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and be willing to make safety their number one priority. Having a great time is a very close second. Yes, you can bring a friend or friends and work as a team. |
Is there an age restriction? It will be left to the discretion of parents to decide whether Day31 is an appropriate experience for their younger children. All children are unique, and mom and dad know their children best. No children under 12 will be admitted without a parent or adult guardian present. Day31 is meant to be a fun experience for all guests and is intended to celebrate the spirit of Halloween and our innate facination with things that invoke fear. Subjecting a child to an experience against their will that may cause psychological trauma and/or nightmares is NOT what Day31 is about and is highly discouraged. For hesitent parents of young children, visit our Fear Free Chicken Run on Thursday, October 29th. |
Where is Day31 located? The Day31 Haunted Attraction is located at 39386 Canyon Rim Circle in Temecula, CA. We are only a few miles from the Promenade Mall. In addition to our main event, we will hold a Fear Free Chicken Run for small children and their families (dates and times for 2010 to be announced). For detailed directions please follow this link: Location. |
What an unusual hobby, are you crazy or weird? Yes and Definitely. |
How much does all this cost? Thousands of dollars are invested in the haunt each year, and it grows a little bigger and a little better every season as a result. To give you an idea, we have more than $400 invested in the screws that hold all the walls together alone! Commercial grade Halloween props can cost tens of thousands of dollars, but thanks to the shared ideas of hundreds of other home haunters throughout the country, many great props can be duplicated for a fraction of the cost. If you would like to get into the home haunting hobby, check out the great How-To sites on my LINKS page. Also feel free to email me with any questions, as I am always happy to help out another Halloween enthusiast. |
I have a question or suggestion! Great! Email me. |
How long does this take to set up? Elements of the Day31 Haunt are planned and worked on all year long, but in 2009 the framing and structure started going up in early September. The tear down is done in various stages and will generally take about 1 month to reach completion. Follow the progress of the haunt build on the Day31 Blog Page. |
What types of jobs are available for volunteers? What do you like to do? Whether you prefer to be the center of attention or trigger scares from behind walls, there is a place for you on the team. |
Where do you store everything? I am currently able to store my haunted house and props in the rafters of my garage and the side of my house beneath tarps. Organizing and storing this much material is a tedious and labor intensive task, and it is my least favorite aspect of doing my haunted house. |
Why Do you Haunt? The Day31 Haunt is a labor of love, not only for the Halloween holiday, but also for the creative process that goes into making it a reality. Day31 is also a tribute to the restless spirits of the I.E. Killer's many faceless victims who you can read more about on the About Day31 page. |
